Myofascial Release Yoga
This class will begin with a brief explanation of myofascial release, a gentle, safe and highly effective hands-on technique which provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions.
Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three dimensional web. Trauma or inflammation can cause a binding down of fascia resulting in excessive pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels or organs.
This active session will begin with a warm up with some gentle stretches and breathe techniques. Together with the support of a massage ball, you will be guided through specific myofascial releases and corresponding stretches for various protocols.
This activity can help increase shoulder and hip range of motion, decrease lower back pain and balance the pelvic centre of gravity, and ease head, neck and jaw tension.
If any specific injuries such as low back, knee or hip, please let us instructor know in advance so that we can provide support if needed.
All skill levels welcome.
Kristine Comartin, RMT, CNP has been a dedicated Registered Massage Therapist since 2003, practicing exclusively the John Barnes' approach to Myofascial Release since 2006, and also a Certified Holistic Nutritionist since 2014.
Kristine's focus is to educate and empower her clients with simple diet and lifestyle strategies and self-treatment tools that can dramatically improve health and wellness.
More recently Kristine has begun to teach myofascial stretch classes, a very unique and powerful way to free the body of chronic pain and increase range of motion.
When applied on a regular basis, myofascial stretching can also significantly increase energy, immunity, quality of sleep, decrease potential for injury, and improve results with your exercise routine such as yoga, weight lifting or the sport you love to play!
