If you are anything like me, flexibility doesn’t come naturally nor do I like stretching because I am not flexible.I always managed to use the “not enough time” excuse to avoid properly stretching before or after a workout and ignore it as part of my workout regime.
Then I wondered why I couldn't walk or move my arms the next day after an intense workout? Or why my neck strain keeps coming back?
In light of trying new things, I realized that I was thinking about stretching in the wrong way. Instead of thinking about it as a part of my workout (and not giving it enough attention), I needed to start thinking about it as a workout on its own.
That is where Charlotte Barker, one of Sport + Spirit for Her ‘spirit' activity facilitators comes into play.
Yoga with a Twist (YwT) by Char not only focuses on stretching as its core component, but it also uses equalizer bars to help clients maximize the stretches, getting the full benefit of it.
Her class helped me to enjoy stretching. As a bonus, my body seemed to thank me. The neck strain that was there in the morning, was gone. The tightness in my hamstrings (which I thought was just normal) was gone and my mind was clear and refreshed.
